Mr. Pontin has served as President or CEO of several companies. His path to CEO was built upon a strong foundation of successive leadership positions in telecommunications and high technology companies spanning functions including sales, marketing, business development, engineering, and operations. Mr. Pontin specializes in assisting Management, Boards, and Investors with strategy assessment, business and market planning, and corporate performance improvement through executive leadership assignments.

Rick’s successes at Ionex, Broadwing, Cincinnati Bell, Nextel, MCI, and AT&T provides the experience base to quickly identify market opportunities and increase profitability for CMP clients.

Accomplishments include:

As CEO of Ionex, Mr Pontin led a corporate performance turnaround and financial restructuring of the Company. In less than a year, the company returned to revenue growth while gross margins improved by over 100 percent. Cash flow improved by $3M/month during the period. The Company implemented a new high margin facilities based product strategy and within 6 months over 45 percent of new sales were from this new product line. From a financial/strategic perspective, Over $100M of debt was restructured and new equity was brought into the Company. The company was then successfully merged with Birch Telecom, creating one of the largest CLEC’s in the Southern US.

Mr. Pontins' tenure as President and Chief Operating Officer of Broadwing Communications, EBITDA increased by a factor of 12 and revenues grew more than 60% in the first two years.Mr Pontin led efforts to significantly expand Broadwing’s distribution channels and products, including the launch of the highly successful National Accounts segment. In 2001, under his leadership, the Company The Wall Street Journal award for best advertising campaign as well as the Bear Stearns High Technology Award for Product Innovation.

As President and COO of Cincinnati Bell, the Company achieved best in class telco annualized revenue growth of 4% while increasing EBITDA by 24%. Additionally, his team quadrupled penetration rates of Broadband access products in just nine months while achieved the highest ILEC penetration in the US. While in this position, Rick also led the merger integration efforts between Cincinnati Bell and IXC Communications to form Broadwing. The merger was completed in 108 days, making it one of the fastest mergers of two publicly traded companies.
